2001 bio:
The Chargers top pick in the 2000 draft, Beckett has secured the team's starting free safety position in just his sophomore season in the NFL. As a rookie in 2000, Beckett started the final three games at free safety and finished the year with 39 tackles and an interception.

Beckett credits his fifth-grade teacher at Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School, Mrs. Dallas, for steering him in the right direction. He has already indicated that when his football career is finished, he would like to return to his hometown of Apopka, Florida, and work as a youth counselor and mentor. He believes that nowadays kids spend too much time playing video games and not enough time on their studies or playing sports.
